International Digital Dialogues
The International Digital Dialogues facilitate close cooperation between Germany and its partner countries on digital policy and the digital economy. This creates better conditions for innovation, market access and cross-border digital business.
Germany conducts bilateral Digital Dialogues with strategic partner countries worldwide, including Brazil, Canada, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, the Republic of Korea, Singapore and the United Kingdom. The dialogues bring together policy makers, businesses and academia to jointly address digital policy issues such as data governance, emerging technologies, digital government and the digital economy.
In practical collaboration formats, the International Digital Dialogues turn dialogue into concrete outcomes, such as policy recommendations and joint pilot projects. Participants also benefit from early insights into digital policy developments and direct exchange with public institutions.
Commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation (BMDS), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports cooperation activities by coordinating meetings and working groups, and serving as a central contact point for engagement.

Canada
Canada and Germany deepen their AI cooperation for more technological sovereignty at ALL IN
From 16-17 September 2026, a German business delegation as well as a delegation of the German Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation (BMDS) took part in ALL IN, Canada’s largest AI and tech event in Montréal. As Country of Honour, Germany was proud to host the “German Pavilion” and present its AI ecosystem. Two productive days concluded with a deepening of Canadian-German AI cooperation on multiple fronts.
Japan
Germany and Japan strengthen cooperation on AI for government modernisation and digitalisation as well as 6G
The 9th annual meeting of the Japan-Germany ICT Policy Dialogue brought together government representatives and business leaders to advance cooperation on key digital technologies. Discussions focused on AI, data policy, online safety, 5G/6G and wireless power transfer. Both sides want to translate dialogue into concrete cooperation and set clear priorities for 2027.
Indonesia
Exchanges on data protection and AI governance: Indonesian-German working groups hold their first meetings
As digital transformation continues to accelerate, it is important that digital cooperation includes practical questions on how regulatory practices can ensure protection and enable innovation. Against this backdrop, the Indonesian-German Digital Dialogue has taken an important step forward with the first meetings of its working groups on data protection and AI governance.

Interested parties can get directly involved in the government dialogues by proposing topics for cooperation or working on current challenges in working groups.
