Kenya
Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo and a delegation visited Germany in November 2023. During their journey, the delegation of digital policy experts and government officials from Kenya met with representatives of the German digital civil society. Organisations such as Superrr Labs, Open Knowledge Foundation Deutschland and LOAD e.V. participated in the reception. It took place on a restaurant boat in the centre of Berlin.
Together, they dived into discussions of the key topics in the Kenyan-German Digital Dialogue: the future of work, the importance of ethical artificial intelligence and more.
Chairwoman of LOAD e.V., Ann Cathrin Riedel, looks back at the reception and highlights: „At the International Digital Dialogues, you can ask questions directly to politicians, businesses, civil society and researchers and learn from partners from all over the world. For example, I learned that in Kenya, it is quite normal for many computer scientists to work for the state.”
The Secretariat for the International Digital Dialogues organised the reception as part of the Kenyan delegation visit in Germany. In addition to formally commencing the Kenyan-German Digital Dialogue, the Kenyan minister and his delegation aimed to meet various players in German digital policy, digital economy and digital civil society to get to know lighthouse projects.
